The Transcendence Series
These works are large-scale, non-representational works on paper. They are a part of Mikey’s Master of Arts in Art (M.A.) Thesis work. The works are process-driven and explore the ying-yang of wet media (watercolor, ink, gouache) and dry media (chalk pastel, colored pencil and charcoal). The process is akin to Mikey’s meditation process and in the end, turn into a topographical or cosmic-like landscape.

The Finding Balance Series
These works are a part of Mikey’s Master of Fine Arts in Art (M.F.A.) Thesis work. The works are a continuation from where he left off in the Transcendence Series. His work explores the concept of mindfulness as the body is in a yoga pose. The body in a static position while being aware of the strength and energy involved in finding balance. At the same time, he is considering the things we cannot see such as air circulation, body heat, blood circulation, and the breath. His process extends into a means to find balance using intention, chance and intuition. In the end, his paintings turn into an enigma, a topographical, geographical or cosmic-like landscape that can often resemble a universe or nebula. They play ambiguously on the micro and the macro and are a mindfulness means of exploring the relationship between chaos and balance. Each piece is a reminder of his desire to ground myself, find inner peace and question the purpose of my existence in this world and universe.
